WATER?
About Subtitle
Everyone drinks water. It’s necessary for survival. Little do people know how important it is to an athlete. Every cell, tissue, and organ in your body needs water to work properly. For example, your body uses water to maintain its temperature, remove waste, and even lubricate your joints. Water is an essential; it helps maintain blood volume, regulate body temperature and allow muscle contractions to take place.
Dehydration is more prone to happen to athletes. When you become dehydrated you can not workout at the same intensity as you would if you were hydrated. When you get dehydrated your body steals water from your organs such as the colon. When this happens you experience constipation. Plus water allows you to digest meals efficiently. This is especially true when you are trying to gain weight and eating in a calorie surplus.
Water is needed for every single metabolic process, this includes protein synthesis. This is key for gaining muscle. So if you are training intensity is high the easiest and simple things you can do is be hydrated and drink water. Drinking water can also help you shed excess water weight. When water in in short supply the body thinks there is a shortage and the body retains it. This water is stored in extracellular spaces and making you look soft and puffy.
Water also makes your supplements work better. Like supplements we have talked about like creatine water is needed because it pulls water into the muscle cells, creating an anabolic environment to grow. Other positives to water is that it helps metabolize fat, clears out toxins, and even helps those who get too much salt.
